Colour Schemer

After A Big Night On The Tiles

Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON

It's a fortnight since daylight saving ended and even though darkness now closes in quicker, the autumn weather is finally milder. Some of the nights have been fairly cool, with a bit of dew on the grass in the morning, although daytime temperatures are still warm, in the mid-20s Celsius range. And of course the sky at this time of year is just spectacular, so blue that it sometimes seems improbable. We had a cloudless afternoon today and I wanted to take a shot that would show you a striking contrast of colours. All I needed was to find a house with red roof tiles - not such an easy task, as it turned out.

Good picture. You mentioned daylight savings time ended a fortnight ago. Was that March 11th? I thought the switch for all countries except the US (that moved it forward this year) was the first weekend of April.

So Bush and Co. did not really go it alone on this as I expected from their track record (and his IQ.) Instead they built a World Coalition of the Willing by having at least one other country (Australia) in synch with their actions on DST.

Although I had to fast forward the clock three weeks ago due to the early daylight savings change, my computer tried to change anyway this morning because it 'thought' it was supposed to. It took time to convince it otherwise. :-D

Thanks, Sandip,

Glad you liked the picture. But guess what - I should have said dayling saving ended a week ago, not a fortnight ago.

We get five months of daylight saving, which is terrific.

So we're sort of in synch.

Hi Marianne,

I'm utterly impressed that you managed to convince the computer it was unnecessary!

Cheers
