Giddy Up

Don't Ride 'Em, Cowboy

A man in Tennant Creek, in Australia’s Northern Territory, has lost his driving licence for riding his horse home from a pub while drunk in April, despite being told by police not to do so. A local magistrate has now disqualified the man from driving for six months.

FOOTNOTE: Rein forecast.

Well..... I suppose if you aren't in control of a horse it could do a lot of damage. Especially to the horse!

That is too funny.

It doesn't seem right to me that he would lose a driver's license for riding a horse, but maybe that judge had more facts than we see in the short version of the account.

I wonder if it was illegal to ride his horse where he was.

Uuhh ... well, I can see where riding a horse home drunk would be bad, but how come he loses his car licence when he wasn't driving? What's the connection?

What am I missing here?

Oh, and didn't our great-grandfathers routinely let the old horse find his way home when they were too drunk to steer? LOL!

One wonders how Tam O'Shanter would have coped with this magistrate.
