In The Slow Lane

He's Coming Out Of His Shell Now

A tortoise survived crossing five lanes of London's busy M25 motorway - and has been christened "Freeway". Driver John Formby spotted him and pulled over to rescue him. He said: "I thought it was a bit of debris. I went to swerve it but noticed it was moving - then saw it had a head."

FOOTNOTE: Head start.

It all happened so fast . . .

Oh, poor little mite. I wish I had found him. Would have been scared to stop on a motorway to rescue him though.
I can assure you that the M25 can be horrendously fast ,with vehicles all driving too close to one another. I think both the tortoise and the driver who rescued him are very lucky to be alive!

The traffic must have been crawling!
Bet that made the tortoise come out of its shell!

Maybe, "Freeway" is attracted to motorways. In that case, he'd better keep it safely locked away...

Aw, c'mon David - have you SEEN the M25? The tortoise probably overtook everything there.
