It's a slightly cooler day today, about 25 Celsius, with some rain forecast. And though it's grey and overcast and humid, here's proof that the day started as if someone had mixed the most vibrant colours and daubed them over the sky. The spire is the Arts Centre, which served as a terrific silhouette to offset the shades in the sky.

Thats beautiful. Minus the contraption on the right it looks like the surface of Mars straight out of a Sci fi movie. Good Stuff... Siddharth
Hi Siddharth,
Yes, that connection hadn't struck me. You're right - the colours are very Martian.
Good observation and thanks for dropping by.
Cheers

Great picture. And for a moment I thought it was the Eiffel Tower and wondered how Paris/France could look so pretty... Just kidding. I've never been there though I'd like to.
Thanks, Sandip
I must say that Paris is one of the most beautiful cities I've been privileged to visit. But as far as I remember, they don't have sunsets and sunrises like we do in Melbourne!
Thanks for your support
David
They certainly don't! Your photography is beautiful David, can I ask what camerea you use?
such a beautiful picture...
Looks like Autumn in Melbourne is getting off to a beautiful start! Spring in Utah is struggling to find its way.
Hi Shrink wrapped scream,
For the past eight months I've used a Pentax K100D which is a digital SLR. I have a Sigma 18-125 lens on it.
Before that I used a Canon EOS 3000 (film) camera as well as a Pentax Optio.
But it honestly doesn;t matter what sort of camera a person uses. Trust me. I've had some great results with a simple off-the-rack Instamatic. Have a look at two shots posted at http://david-mcmahon.blogspot.com/2006/11/dirty-fokker-flight-services.html and you'll see what I mean.
Take a look and let me know what you think!

Hi Chele76,
I was lucky - just in the right place at the right time. But read my answer to Shrink Wrapped Scream (see above) and then check http://david-mcmahon.blogspot.com/2006/11/dirty-fokker-flight-services.html to see that it really depends on the photographer's ``eye'' and not the equipment. In other words, you don't need a $5000 camera to take a memorable shot.
Thank you for dropping by.
Cheers
David
Hi Deborah,
Thanks for dropping by and leaving a link to a very interesting blogpost.
I've left a comment on your blog. Do keep me updated on your progress and even though I'm busy wrapping up another novel, I've always got time for fellow writers and bloggers.
Take care
David
Jeez, David, try as I might, I still can't seem to gain entry to that site you mentioned! Is it the right address?
Yes, you're right, it's who's behind the lens, not the lens that counts. I'm still on a steep learning curve (not quite steep enough, yet), can't believe some people are daft enough to pay me, on occassion! In my defence, I never advertise, and am completely honest.. but I do have the odd cringe-inducing results every now and then!
Hi Shrink wrapped scream,
Just checked the link - it seems to work for me. Okay, try this. Just copy what is with the brackets here (http://david-mcmahon.blogspot.com/2006/11/dirty-fokker-flight-services.html) and paste that into your browser.
Let me know if that works for you. Should take you to a November 2006 post about Jindaroo Creek, a fictional bush outpost that appears in my novel `Vegemite Vindaloo'.
I can see exactly where you're coming from about the learning curve - and about being completely honest about one's work.
Take care
David
