Cheque, Mate

If That’s A Windfall, Just Thank The Tornado

A retired US farmer in south Georgia was surprised when a cheque from Enterprise, Alabama, landed in a dirt road at his 100-hectare farm just hours after powerful tornadoes hit Enterprise. Jack Short, 77, spotted the cheque during a property inspection. But it's not exactly a windfall because the cheque was only for $3.88 - and it was cashed in 1970. The cheque is remarkably well preserved, with only slight smudging, after its dramatic delivery.

Hi David,
Great story which my wife can
relate to quite well since she's originally from Alabama.
Too bad the check was cashed
so many years ago.
At least he could have bought
a lottery ticket with that
windfall.

Cheers,
Doug

Hi Doug,
Thanks for dropping in and leaving a comment. I guess your wife would have had a chuckle at the story. You're right about the cheque. Maybe he could have cashed it again because it was in a different state!
Cheers
David
