While You Were Sleeping

Hypnotised Student Finds Himself In Morocco

TV hypnotist Derren Brown put a student in a trance in England - and woke him up Morocco's chaotic Marrakech market. According to Ananova, Richard Citchlow, 21, slept through the 13-hour trip. He stumbled out of a photo booth in Marrakech after being hypnotised in an identical one in England. Critchlow, from Wolverhampton, was whisked off to Heathrow Airport. He was slumped in a wheelchair as he was put on a plane, flown to Morocco then wheeled through passport control. He was then placed in the set-up booth in Marrakech's Djema al Fna market. He was dumbstruck, as street sellers approached him with dates, nuts and juice. He wandered through the streets before Brown finally let him in on the prank. Critchlow had answered an ad to appear on Brown's new show `Trick or Treat’ on Channel 4 next month.

I would love some advice on how to get more traffic to my blogs. I noticed that my blog http://cash4blogging.blogspot.com is number 27 on your list of weekly blog awards and I am very grateful of that. Any advise at all would be of much help.

In my job, we see a lot of hypnotists at the beginning of the school year, they make for good entertainment for university aged students. Anyway, one of my bosses refuses to work those gigs because he's afraid of something like that happening to him. I've tried to tell him that they don't mess with the sound guys for good reason, but he's still scared to death that he's gonna wake up and be kissing a guy or something.

Hi pjsandcoffee,

Congratulations - your blog wouldn't be on the list if it didn't deserve to be there.

Straight up, let me tell you there is no ``Excalibur Factor'' when it comes to increasing traffic to a blog - there is no magic sword to brandish.

Having said that, you have already made great strides, because you have a blog that is making people sit up and take notice.

Is there a golden rule to increasing traffic? Yes - you must post well and post often. Readers will come back to a site if they are a) assured of quality and b) aware that you post something every day.

So yes, it's going to need focus. You don't need to write `War and Peace' every day. No, sir. You can write short posts, witty posts, pithy posts, thought-provoking posts - and if you enjoy writing them, then the chances are that readers will enjoy reading them.

You can ping as many update services as you want, but readers are extremely discerning. They will only come back to a site if it promises them quality.

That's the best advice I can give you. Take care of the basics and the rest follows. Give 'em a knock-their-socks-off blog of daily quality that they can't ignore - and they'll beat a path to your door.

Hope all of that makes sense. Buzz me if you have any queries, anytime.

Good luck and happy blogging.

David

Hi Bart,

Loved that story. Hey, you can tell your boss that I agree with him. In the light of the Marrakech prank, I think he's one wise dude!

Keep me posted.
