Taurus Chorus

You Just Can't Ignorus

Photographs copyright: DAVID McMAHON

A couple of weeks ago, while I was exploring the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, with my family, I was walking a few metres behind the rest of the clan because - as I always do - I had my camera with me and I was shooting as I walked.

I caught sight of this sign on a building and hit the trigger immediately. It was a few seconds before my eyes moved down to pavement level, where I encountered this life-sized replica of a red-eyed bull.

It was coated in high-gloss paint, so I reckon it's a bull in the shiner shop.

Look carefully at the warning sign around its neck and you'll see that the penalty is not to be taken lightly. The amount of 6000 Malaysian ringgit converts to just under $2000. Despite the heroes of the Wild West, no one wants to be hit with a huge buffalo bill!

OK I won't sit on him. I don't trust a bull with red eyes anyway.

today, as i was exploring one of the lesser backyards in the welsh capital of cardiff (oh! with *my* family!), i saw no similar creature. clearly, kuala lumpur beats the hell out of my back garden.

Bullish of me to say you're barking mad, with an very keen eye for the absurd. Always assured of an unusual post here.

Well I see that you headed the sign's warning. You don't want to push the envelope when you're traveling. Although I bet it took all your composure to keep from jumping on that thing!

That red-eyed bull is REALLY beautiful! If it's about $2000 if I damage it... ummmm... how much do I have to pay to have one for myself? in my yard? to admire and take photos of? Huh? I want one! It's really really purty.

I love a good play on words, and you, sir, outdid yourself with this one!

Very interesting photo of the bull. I definitely would not want to sit on it to pay S$3000. But that's what most people would do to pose for photos.

I am a Taurus so your title captured me. ;)

If it is so fragile why is it outside? Seems strange.

The bull seems to be angry with fiery red eyes.

You are out standing in your field, Mr. McMahon! Wait.. that's not a field! It's the streets of Kuala Lumpur! You do manage to find the most *interesting* objects to photograph! A Camera Critter, indeed!

Those red eyes make the bull look as if it has one hell of a hangover.
