Here’s The Deal, Codger

It’s Gonna Cost Ya Millions

A group of pensioners in the UK have been banned from playing cards in a sheltered housing complex unless they fork out for insurance cover worth $4 million. The 14 whist players - aged between 70 and 90 - have been meeting in a communal room every Friday for eight years but have been told they must buy liability insurance cover for all those who don't live there.

Ummmm....What? I've heard of a cover charge but this is down right criminal. To bad they don't live nearby, I have a right nice garage like shed they'd be welcome to use...free of charge...just clean up behind themselves...I had forgotten how mean spirited the Housing Authority could be!

This is bureacracy gone mad. Having as I have said before, many moons ago worked in nursing, this just drives me mad. Do they not realise how a simple card game weekly is a lifeline
to this folks, for company and keeping those brain cells alive. I get more and more ashamed of my mother country everyday. No wonder i moved to thid island.

Rant over! Sorry.

Sad.

I hope they find a welcoming and reasonable play to play their game.

I'm with babooshka and sandi.

(Unless they play for really high stakes, and the insurance is to cover the pot??)
