Song Sung Blues

Hell Of A Way To Go

AC/DC's Highway to Hell is becoming one of the most requested funeral tunes in Australia. Ding Dong the Witch is Dead from the Wizard of Oz, and Another One Bites the Dust by Queen are also popular. According to Adelaide funeral managers, only two hymns still rank among its top 10 most popular funeral songs: Amazing Grace and Abide With Me.

FOOTNOTE: Dead reckoning.

Ummmm.... maybe preplanning your funeral isn't a bad idea. On the other hand, I can think of some funerals that those songs would be perfect for if the choice was up to me!

"Ding dong the witch is dead"???
A pretty wry sense of humour you lot have down there!
(I like the Queen one...)

How about "I love the dead" by Alice Cooper?

Or rig the body to sit up as the sound system is playing "Hello it's me" by Todd Rundgren.

You have to be "deadicated" to pick out good funeral hymns!

The last funeral that I went to had no hymns, which was different .

I would hate to think that the Oz song might be played at my funeral...although, I can think of a person or two where it might just be apropos.

Call me superstitious, but I don't think I'd want Highway to Hell playing at my funeral.
