Alpha Mail

Is This A Witty 'Post' Title?

Photographs copyright: DAVID McMAHON

Anything unusual always catches my eye. Our mail boxes here are red for normal mail and yellow for express mail. They're always highly visible, but for practical purposes they are rectangular, with rounded tops.

So when I caught sight of these unique postboxes on the footpath at Freshwater Place, I had to go in to the Australia Post shop and ask permission to photograph them, even though they were in a public access area.

And no, I wasn't pushing the envelope!

Not pushing the envelope? What about a postcard?

Why did you have to ask permission to photograph them?

And yes, it is a witty title! :)

Normal! We Americans say 'reglar!'

I am surprised you had to have permission to photograph them. They are certainly nice and cheerful.

Of course an Alpha Mail (male) would indicate they are the leader of the pack and snail mail is far behind unfortunately.

"Not pushing the envelope"? -- Groan!

Very colorful and good title. Our mailboxes in the USA look boring compared to these.

we, as americans, are supposed to say 'reglar'? no WONDER i got booted out. all those things i was supposed to say and didn't. i really did our country a disservice by mislabelling the mail.

i wrote this on a post-it note first.

yeah, it doesn't really work, does it. i tried. it's late.

Pretty. I like the reflection in the window, too.

Very interesting and beautiful colours. Definitely a eye catching ones. We have the local and overseas slots in the same rectangular post box. Our old post box looked better than our present one.

No way these bold color mailboxes can be missed.

This brings to mind a little ditty we used to write on envelopes when we were kids..."postman, postman, don't be slow...be like Ringo...go, go, go!"

Cute, eh?

Adorable. They look like robot pals or something... Thanks for the visit and the compliment! I'm excited to add your blog to my daily reading.

I totally would have thought Red would be for express and Yellow for regular mail. Very beautiful!

Witty and well-delivered post. ;)

Love the title. I do like a good play on words! Those boxes would be pretty hard to miss, so much cooler than the boring blue boxes here.

I love shots like these - striking.

And around here, our post-boxes are boring things.. and hard to find. They always seem to hide them around corners and in little alcoves.

Thanks for the call the other day. Much appreciated.

Cute! But like Akelamalu asked, "Why?" Another blogger in California told me they usually can't take photos of things in stores. I take pics of veggies and flowers in stores here all the time.
