Ringing Endorsement

Court Unawares, But He’s Still A Free Man

A South African man sentenced to a month in jail for allowing his mobile phone to ring noisily in a courtroom has had the sentence overturned on appeal. According to News24.com, Keri Gwyn Lewis was convicted after his mobile rang while he was sitting in the public gallery of the Johannesburg High Court, and he answered it while leaving the room. The irritated judge sent bailiffs after Lewis, questioned him about his conduct - and convicted him on the spot.

That is one of the craziest things I've ever heard. I know court rooms can be a little strict but that may be taking it a little far.

Hi Jenera,

Yes, I thought it was tking the letter of the law to extremes.

At least his appeal was successful!
