Want to nominate a blog for next week's awards? It's simple. If you would like your blog (or someone else's) to be considered for next week's awards, please leave the url on this post, in the form of a comment. You can nominate as many blogs as you want. Entries close at midday Greenwich Mean Time each Friday.
Of all the nominations I received, this was the most humorous. Dr Zibbs wrote: ``THAT BLUE YAK will accept the invitaion of nominating its own blog for Aussiejourno's Weekly Blog Awards. We will be crafting a well-thought-out acceptance speech, in the event we may win. Jesus will not be mentioned, nor will the unimportant behind-the-scenes people that keep our organization running. I invite all other nominees to visit our blog - if they can muster the courage.''

Hi David, could you link using the blog name? For example: authorblog instead of http://david-mcmahon.blogspot.com/. This way the blog name gets memorized and your readers know which blogs they are already familiar with. (Most of us remember the name not the URL).

david mcmahon said...

Hi Jenera,

Congratulations. The important thing is that all the sites are judged simply on content. Not by the number of hits. Not by the number of links. Just content.

You might like to tell your readers about the recognition your efforts have received.

Well done and happy blogging.

Hi Bikas,

Got that. Thank you. And good luck.

Just one minor piece of advice (and please don't take this as criticism) - just edit your blogposts to ensure no errors creep in.

Good luck for next week and stay in touch.

Cheers

David

Hi Samadhi,

So glad you enjoyed that. Good luck and I hope you continue to enjoy what you do.

Very interesting point, Leon

I debated the issue a week ago. Like you, I remember the blog name, rather than the url.

The tech/ editorial people I polled, leaned heavily toward displaying the url (rather than just the blog name) but yes, I will give it fresh consideration in the light of your message.

Any other opinions on this? I'd welcome some feedback here, folks ....

I think Leon's really started the ball rolling

Cheers

If http://grumpyandfarting.blogspot.com

wins, will I have to come to collect the pize or can it be paid into my Swiss Numbered Account?

If I do have to collect, what is the dress code? Black tie I assume.

Will I have to make a speech, thanking everybody from: my parents, teachers, the man who delivered the milk, the woman at the supermarket checkout, my wife who has been the inspiration for my blog, the doctor at the A&E Department who maintains my gastric system in tip top condition so that I can continue to be a Grumpy Old Fart, all the people who have visited the blog and kept the counter ticking over, Tony Blair for reminding me why I don’t trust politicians, the Queen for allowing me to use her toilet when I visit St James’s Park and everyone else who I haven’t mentioned individually?

Finally would a bribe be of appropriate to ensure the blog is selected - I

Hi Bart,

You're still on the list - and that's the most important thing. But I will tell you, the competition's getting tougher! And that's a good thing, I guess.

Still, I want Aussiejourno's Weekly Blog Awards to validate the great work being done by bloggers who haven't been spotted by the big-radar talent scouts. Makes sense, doesn't it!

Keep smiling

Dear Yesbut,

Laughed at your comment. Top marks to you. I love a bit of irreverence - as you can probably tell from the tone of my blog.

No bribes necessary. I can just see the Hollywood adaptation now, called `Bribe And Prejudice'.

Dress code? Hmmm. Black tie would be good. I'll get out my tux as well. Speech? You have 30 seconds before the production crew cut to the orchestra.

Swiss account? What's that!

Cheers and keep blogging

David,

Thanks, I did not think I'd make it this early. I am truly grateful. I will keep on improving on what I am doing. I hope you continue in providing not only information and resource but inspiration as well.

There is truly no better motivation for a blogger than honest appreciation of one's effort.

Thanks again, man. Hope to learn more from you.

BT Bear,
You're welcome. Well deserved. I'm getting good at bear language now.

Chewy,
Shopping works for me! Got that nomination, thanks.

Terry (El Tel)
Many thanks for the wise counsel. Appreciated, as always.

Bikas,
Thanks, emailed you immediately.

Lissa,
Slacking off? We can't have that! Not from someone of your class.
Keep smiling.

Mcglinch, Latrice and Dan,
Got those nominations, thanks. Good luck.

Deb,
Great to hear your view. Someone else made a great comment about it being an ``honest appraisal''. Yep, that's pretty much it. I'm not selling anything, not endorsing anything, not profiting from commercial interests. My only motive is to promote and encourage the work of others. Simple, isn't it!

Thanks for your very kind words of appreciation (``I hope you continue in providing not only information and resource but inspiration as well. There is truly no better motivation for a blogger than honest appreciation of one's effort.'')
My aim is to help, to encourage and to honestly advise. I am blessed with experience in many fields and would love nothing more than to share the benefit of that experience to help others.

Take care, everyone - and happy blogging.

Hi Deb and Copper,

Got those nominations, thanks. Left a message for both of you at Copper's blog.

It would be great if you get a wider audience, as well as the impetus to keep pushing the boundaries. Always keep striving, always keep improving.

Jeez, I must sound like an old codger! But you know what I mean.

Hi ipodwheels,

No problem at all. I do enjoy your blog and it is my aim to find a suitable readership for all the great blogs out there. That's the whole idea behind the concept of Aussiejourno's Weekly Blog Awards - to win recognition for bloggers who a) deserve it and b) probably wouldn't have too many people to give them honest appraisals and genuine advice based on years of experience.

You have my support, as do all aspiring writers and bloggers.

Stay in touch.

David

HI acwo, jenera and dan mega,

Jenera, you're keeping very calm, despite the mini-crisis in losing so much hard work.

Cheers and happy blogging

David, yes we all have come together with our blogging because of you. This was all new to me. I was in a writing site and someone said I should have a blog. A what? A blog? So, that started the Google search, with the step-by-step procedure. Writing is my passion and blogging (I shouldn't say forces me, but prods me) into action for more writing. And yes, your site does provide a place that we can all hang out together. There is another site which likes to tout the same thing, however, proves useless. Keep up the kind work.

Thanks Dave for connecting us Bloggers.

I joined Blogger just before it changed to the New Blogger. I would click on the tag links in my profile to find other bloggers with things in common. Then came the New Blogger and no more word tag links. I began aimlessly clicking from blog to blog.
Now my most favorite search is to click through your weekly list. I leave my site address wherever I go and visit Google Groups Share Your Blog at Blogger Help Forums.

Hi Deb,

Glad to be of service. Honestly, it is great to see so many bloggers (many newbies among them) getting together and sharing information. That's what builds a stronger blogging community.

The Google blog sites are terrific, too, for threads and any discussion base you might want to explore. I highly recommend them.

Nice to hear how you started blogging. Anyone else want to share their experiences? I'd love to hear your stories.

David

Hi Chewy and Shades,

Nice to hear from you both.

Chewy, I'm glad you find the connection and the common spirit so helpful.

Shades, it's all about recognition and valildation - and some proof that when we do something we really enjoy, someone 10,000 km away can read what you produce and go: ``Whoa, that's a mighty good site''.

Onwards and upwards!
